Effective and Highly Effective Argos Teachers to Receive Teacher Appreciation Grant Funds This Friday
The Argos Community School Corporation received about $18,720 from the 2018 Teacher Appreciation Grant administered through the Indiana Department of Education.
Superintendent Ned Speicher noted that the grant amount is based on the way students performed on the ISTEP test and the growth that was measured. The funds are distributed to the teachers who received an effective or highly effective rating on their evaluations. Continue reading

Marshall County Sites for the Summer Food Service Program
More than 250 Indiana schools and community sponsors will be kicking off their Food Summer Service Programs this week, with a number of local sites included.
June is the busiest month for the program since many families begin seeking additional nutrition assistance in the summertime. For that reason, Governor Eric Holcomb issued a statewide proclamation, declaring the week of June 4th through the 8th Summer Food Service Program week.
For more than 40 years, the program has provided eligible children and teens ages 18 and under with access to free, nutritious meals and snacks during the summer months. Last year, more than 3 million meals were delivered across the state. Here in Marshall County, there will be sites set up in Bremen, Culver and Plymouth. Continue reading
Argos School Board Permits Out-of-District Students to Enroll, Establishes Transfer Deadline
In the state of Indiana, school corporations are required to submit a notice to the Department of Education if they plan to accept out-of-district students.
Argos Superintendent Ned Speicher reported that when school board members met Monday night, they voted to allow out-of-district students and established that transfer requests can be submitted anytime between June 1st and September 1st. Continue reading
Culver Community Schools See Enrollment Growth
Culver Community School Board members received a brief enrollment report from Superintendent Karen Shuman when they met Monday night.
According to the Indiana Department of Education enrollment report, Culver Community Schools had a total enrollment of 840 students in 2016. Shuman shared that after comparing this year’s number to last year’s, she found the school corporation has nine more students in general. Continue reading
