Argos School Board Permits Out-of-District Students to Enroll, Establishes Transfer Deadline

In the state of Indiana, school corporations are required to submit a notice to the Department of Education if they plan to accept out-of-district students.

Argos Superintendent Ned Speicher reported that when school board members met Monday night, they voted to allow out-of-district students and established that transfer requests can be submitted anytime between June 1st and September 1st.

Speicher mentioned why members decided on those dates, “It just makes sense for the student and the school district,” He noted, “so they can get started on the school year and not be jumping districts in the middle of the school year unless they move.”

The required notification must include the school corporation’s name and identification number as well as the date that requests must be received by. That needs to be submitted to the Indiana Department of Education no later than May 25th.
