The Argos Community School Corporation received about $18,720 from the 2018 Teacher Appreciation Grant administered through the Indiana Department of Education.
Superintendent Ned Speicher noted that the grant amount is based on the way students performed on the ISTEP test and the growth that was measured. The funds are distributed to the teachers who received an effective or highly effective rating on their evaluations.
Speicher said there were 29 teachers who were rated effective this year. They will be getting a bonus of about $560 each thanks to this grant. He added that there were four highly effective teachers who will get approximately $620 each.
The superintendent said the teachers will receive these funds on Friday, just in time for the holidays.
