More than 250 Indiana schools and community sponsors will be kicking off their Food Summer Service Programs this week, with a number of local sites included.
June is the busiest month for the program since many families begin seeking additional nutrition assistance in the summertime. For that reason, Governor Eric Holcomb issued a statewide proclamation, declaring the week of June 4th through the 8th Summer Food Service Program week.
For more than 40 years, the program has provided eligible children and teens ages 18 and under with access to free, nutritious meals and snacks during the summer months. The Culver-Union Township Public Library is celebrating the start of its summer reading programs with ice cream and a movie on Monday. 
Officials with the Culver-Union Township Public Library asked the Culver Town Council members to delay marking spaces for accessible parking as required by the American Disability Act. Town Manager Jonathan Leist presented the information where he explained the library board is waiting for the final design for the courtyard before designating areas for accessible parking.
The Culver-Union Township Public Library hopes to make some facility upgrades, while refinancing some of its debt. 
The Culver School Board got a look at the corporation from a different perspective this week. Culver Community High School’s three foreign exchange students had the chance to discuss their impressions of the school. 
The Culver-Union Township Public Library is celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss tomorrow, and Youth Services Manager Jill Gavlick says local kids are invited to join in the fun. “We have a story time,” she says. “We do crafts and some games and just a little bit of everything, all revolving around Dr. Seuss.”
