The Maxinkuckee Singers are spreading Christmas cheer around the community this holiday season. According to their website, this is a vocal performance off-shoot of the civic theater group ‘The Maxinkuckee Players. They’ve been active in the central northern part of Indiana for nearly three decades.
During the month of December, these singers put on several Christmas themed public performances throughout Marshall County and the surrounding area. Today is the Public Premiere of the Documentary “Lake Maxinkuckee: A History”
Community members have a chance to see a free screening of a new documentary entitled “Lake Maxinkuckee: A History” at 10 a.m. today.
The Antiquarian and Historical Society (AHS) of Culver will present the film at the train station-depot in the town park on Lake Shore Drive. It is about 30 minutes long and will feature original footage shot in the area as well as historical photos and videos. Continue reading
Paddle to the Max Event to Benefit Culver Boys and Girls Club
This Saturday you can contribute to a great cause while having some fun on Culver’s scenic Lake Maxinkuckee during the second annual “Paddle to the Max” event.
Hosted by Shaka SUP Racing, this event features stand-up paddleboard and kayak races. There will be racing divisions for youth, beginners and advanced paddlers. Though there is a competitive element, participants are also free to come out just for fun.
Five dollars from every registration fee collected will be donated to the Culver Boys and Girls Club. Continue reading
Certain Roads in Culver Will Be Closed Saturday Morning for the Lake Max Triathlon
In accordance with the Lake Max Triathlon, Lake Shore Drive and Main Street in Culver will be closed between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Culver Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim sent out an alert stating that during that time, bike traffic will also be heavy on State Road 10 as well as roads around the lake, including Sycamore Road and 20B Road. Continue reading
Hydrant Flushing to be Conducted in Culver this Week
Starting on Monday, June 25th, utility crews will be flushing hydrants in the town of Culver.
Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim sent out a reminder notifying the public that during the process, you may notice that water from the faucet appears rusty in color but it is still safe to drink. However, to alleviate the issue, turn the faucet on and let it run until the water is clear. Continue reading
INDOT Closes Section of State Road 17 For Chip and Sealing Operations
Starting today, Culver residents and commuters should be prepared for an ongoing road closure on State Road 17.
The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that State Road 17 in Marshall County will be closed between State Road 8 and State Road 10 as crews perform chip sealing operations. The work will begin today and that section of road is expected to reopen by the end of the day on Friday, June 22. Continue reading

Culver Officials Discuss Improving Internet Capabilities in Town
Improving internet access for residents and businesses owners in Culver is a project that town officials are looking into.
The Culver Redevelopment Commission recently met with representatives from Marshall County Fiber LLC about the possibility of installing fiber optic cable to improve access to the internet in the area.
At the last town council meeting, CRC member Rich West shared that the Redevelopment Commission has been working on finding a good fit for Culver for several years and noted that it is an issue that needs to be addressed. Continue reading
Culver Town Council Establishes Special Summer Schedule for Town Employees
Special summer hours have been established for Culver Town Hall and town officials will be trying out a new summer hour schedule as well.
During the summer season, Culver Town Hall will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. At last week’s Culver Town Council meeting, a new employee schedule was proposed.
President Ginny Bess Munroe said she collaborated with Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim and Town Manager Jonathan Leist about a “morale-boosting” schedule that will give employees a chance to enjoy their summer. Continue reading
