Prosecutor Nelson Chipman and Community Corrections Director Ward Byers announced the new approach in a press release Friday. They say it’s “an evidence based cognitive behavioral program designed to enhance awareness of thoughts and belief patterns to change behavior to one of equality and acceptance.”
The hope is that the treatment will do a better job of stopping offenders from committing more acts of domestic violence in the future. A single-vehicle crash has claimed the life of a Triton High School student. Cameron Scarberry, 16, of Etna Green, was killed in a crash near Atwood Sunday. School officials say he died instantly. The fatality was confirmed Monday by Kosciusko County Coroner Tony Ciriello.
A report of a younger woman battering an older woman was investigated by Plymouth Police Saturday afternoon. Officers say it happened around 12:45 in the 1700 block of West Jefferson Street.
Marshall County Commissioner Kurt Garner updated the county council on the formation of the Shady Rest Committee. Nine members will serve on the committee that will help decide what uses the building can support
The Marshall County Commissioners are looking for more members to sit on the Shady Rest Home Committee. The commissioners decided to form a committee to determine what uses could fill the Shady Rest Home facility once it is handed back to the county on Aug. 1. The Bowen Center made the decision to cease operations there after some of the new regulations didn’t fit the facility’s needs.
