Argos School Board Approves Administration Hires
The Argos Community School Board approved the appointments and hires of several staff members this week.
Rebecca Vamos was appointed as the elementary principal after serving in the interim position since the start of the second semester this year. The contracts of Nick Medich as the junior/senior high school principal and Dean of Students/Athletic Director Jon Alcorn were renewed for one year. Charles Nettrouer was also appointed as the director of maintenance, building and grounds on a one-year contract.
Argos School Board Considers Bond Issue for Capital Projects
The Argos Community School Board is looking to get a General Obligation Bond in order to complete several capital projects.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Robert Boyd said the bond would be for $2 million.
“The board is entertaining a proposal that would allow the corporation to infuse some cash into its General Fund operation and to take care of some capital needs that need to be done in terms of boilers for the facility as well as parking lot repairs.”
Argos Community School Board Announces New Superintendent
A new Argos school superintendent was announced Monday afternoon in a specially called meeting of the school board.
Ned Speicher will join the Argos Community School Corporation as the superintendent on July 1. Speicher has served Indiana school corporations as a teacher, principal, and an assistant superintendent. Speicher recently retired after 10 years as the superintendent from the Rensselaer Central School Corporation. He has led other school corporations as superintendent in his career.
Argos School Board Discusses Summer Projects
The Argos Community School Board reviewed a strategic plan for building projects this summer.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Robert Boyd said the board is looking to do some updating to the facilities.
Petition Submitted to Argos School Board
A petition was brought before the Argos Community School Board Monday night requests that the school board members be chosen by an election and not by appointment.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Robert Boyd said the petition was submitted by a group of citizens in town and more discussions are in the planning stages in the matter.
