Culver School Board Gets Update on Summer Food Program

summerfoodservices-300x183The Culver Community Schools Corporation is reporting success with its efforts to provide free meals to local children during the summer months. Food Services Director Carin Clifton gave the school board an update Monday on the Summer Food Service Program. It’s sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and aims to give meals to children 18 and younger, as well as adults with disabilities who are enrolled in a state-approved education program. Culver School Board Reverses Administrative Cut, Delays Naming Permanent Superintendent

Culver-Community-School-CorporationThe Culver Community Schools Corporation has changed its plans for administrative cuts, due to some recent resignations. Last December, the school corporation recommended cutting two administrative positions, as well as some teaching jobs, as a cost-saving measure. The school board moved ahead with that process earlier this year, voting not to renew the contract of Assistant Principal/Title 1 Director Julie Berndt. Continue reading

Marshall Commissioners Recommend Funding Elevator Upgrades

Aging elevators at the Marshall County Courthouse are prompting the maintenance department to recommend a fix.

The Courthouse in Plymouth has two elevators, north and south, that have been a mixture of benefits and problems for the maintenance crew. A company is contracted to help maintain the elevators, which has advised the elevators are aging past their usefulness.

Marshall County Proposes Health Services Agreement for Employees

The Marshall County government is moving forward with plans to provide greater access to healthcare for some of its employees.

Partnering with St. Joseph Regional Health Systems, the Marshall County Commissioners Monday morning heard a presentation about the benefits of implementing a wellness program through a professional services agreement.
