Plymouth Man Jailed Following Four-County Pursuit

police-lightsA Plymouth man who is accused of leading police on a high-speed chase through four counties faces numerous criminal charges in connection with the Saturday morning incident. A Bourbon Police Department officer tried to stop a car driven by Daniel Nifong of Plymouth for several traffic violations just after 2 a.m. at the intersection of State Roads 331 and 10, according to the incident report.

Nifong reportedly took off and led police from Marshall to Kosciusko County, back into Marshall County and through Fulton into Wabash County, with speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour during the pursuit.

Stop sticks were used in Wabash County to disable the vehicle. They flattened all four tires and caused Nifong to spin out in a grassy area on State Road 13 just south of State Road 114. He was arrested without incident. Nifong faces charges of resisting law enforcement, driving while suspended with a prior conviction and forgery. The latter charge stems from having a homemade paper license plate, according to the police report.
