Secretary of State Diego Morales Presents Grant to Marshall County Clerk of Courts

Secretary of State Diego Morales visited Marshall County on Friday morning to present a check for $21,777 from the Federal Help America Vote Act Grant. The money is being distributed to be used for local election improvement and security efforts.

The Winter Storm Warning continues in La Porte, Porter, and St. Joseph Counties, but Starke County and Marshall County are now under a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 a.m. ET Saturday, January 20. The Winter Weather Advisory in Pulaski County has been allowed to expire.

The first meeting of the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission of 2024, on Tuesday, began with the commissioners taking their oath of office. Billy Ellinger, Nancy Felde, Craig Hopple and Mike Miley returned as members of the commission. Robin Cupka is a new member to the commission as a non-voting member from the Plymouth Community School Board.

Winter Storm Warning Issued

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for La Porte, Marshall, Porter, St. Joseph, and Starke Counties that is in effect from 10 p.m. ET tonight (Thursday, January 18) to 7 a.m. ET Saturday (January 20). Pulaski County is under a Winter Weather Advisory.

Plymouth Police Department Officer Respond to Various Calls

Plymouth Police Department officersvarrested several people as a result of response to various calls.

Plymouth Police were called to the Red Rock Inn Saturday, January 13 for an unknown disturbance. On the scene, officers detained and transported Cierna Garcon to the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of battery and criminal mischief.

Plymouth Police stopped a vehicle with expired plates on W. Harrison St. Sunday, January 14.
It was reportedly found that the driver, Michael Walters, 40 of Wyoming, MI, was driving on a suspended license and he was taken to the Marshall County Jail.

Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of W. Jefferson St., Serenity Place Apartments, Monday, January 15 for a report of a domestic disturbance. On arrival, officers found Julia Langley, 39 of Rochester, and Tabitha Uylacki-Back outside of their rooms arguing, according to the report.
Both allegedly stated that they were in a physical altercation and were taken to the Marshall County Jail for domestic battery.

Formal charges will be determined in each case by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
