John Glenn High School and John Glenn School Corporation organizations, along with community and civic groups and churches all take part. A Culver man was sentenced on Wednesday after pleading guilty to a charge of Reckless Homicide.
54-year-old Jon McFarland was charged following a Grand Jury indictment from December of 2014. It alleges that on October 12th of that year, McFarland was a driver in an automobile crash that occurred at the intersection of U.S. 31 and State Road 10 near Argos.
A Plymouth man faces a theft of a handgun charge after the weapon was recovered in South Bend following a shooting. Plymouth Police say the gun was stolen from a home in the 1600 block of North Michigan Street on Sept. 8th. Continue reading

An investigation is continuing into the death of 2-year-old Serenity Wilson.
That’s according to Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman who spoke to members of the press Wednesday morning at the Marshall County Building. Wilson was pronounced dead at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne over the weekend after receiving intensive care for 27 hours.

Work continues to help students at Plymouth High School grieve following the loss of a fellow classmate.
The Plymouth Community School Corporation contracts with the Bowen Center to provide mental health services to students. The non-profit supplies psychologists, nurses, and social workers to assess a range of needs.

Marshall County has made appointments to serve on a newly created board to help designate unsafe housing for demolition.
The appointments follow the adoption of an ordinance creating that board that looks to bypass what was otherwise a lengthy process of remediation for unsafe property in the county.

During last night’s meeting, a public hearing was held to review the document that will determine expenditures for the next year. As things stand, Culver sees modest increases in spending for its police and fire department budgets. The biggest jump was a projected $100-thousand increase in EMS expenses.

Work continues from Marshall County’s perspective to gain federal assistance following major storms in June and July of this year.
The area received record-breaking rainfall, damaging crops and flooding roads. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, however, denied Indiana’s request for certain funds to help repair damage caused by the storms.
