Bremen police officers made several arrests over the weekend on a variety of charges.
A South Bend man was arrested Friday after police say a civil complaint was filed with police just after 10 p.m. on E. Plymouth Street. Joshua D. Gay, 36, was booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of battery, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and criminal mischief. Continue reading
Culver Community School Board members received a brief enrollment report from Superintendent Karen Shuman when they met Monday night.
According to the Indiana Department of Education enrollment report, Culver Community Schools had a total enrollment of 840 students in 2016. Shuman shared that after comparing this year’s number to last year’s, she found the school corporation has nine more students in general. Continue reading

A model of the USS Indiana SSN 789 Nuclear Submarine will be stopping in Plymouth on Nov. 9 along with a few former crew members.
Members of the Marshall County Blueberry Festival announced this week that in observance of Veteran’s Day the model of the USS Indiana Nuclear Submarine will be available for viewing near the Veteran’s Memorial on the eastside of the Marshall County Courthouse in Plymouth.
Some local school corporations saw their letter grades improve slightly, while others remained flat. On Wednesday, the Indiana State Board of Education finalized the A-to-F grades for each of the state’s school corporations for the 2016-2017 school year.
The annual Plymouth Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner and Awards night is set for Thursday, Nov. 16.

LIHEAP is funded through the U.S Department of Health and Human Services to help low income families avoid losing utilities this winter. The program began earlier this month and will officially conclude in May of 2018. Plymouth city officials and members of Discover Plymouth along with the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) are working to understand the current parking capacity, identify areas of deficiencies, ease of parking, and the overall parking needs in downtown Plymouth. The time for Culver’s local Stellarbration event has been amended to accommodate a change in Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch’s schedule.
Culver was named the Division II Stellar Community by Lt. Governor Crouch on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The state Stellarbration was held the following week while the Town of Culver scheduled the local event for Nov. 8. The start time for the event has been moved to 4:30 p.m. ET. Continue reading

The Indiana State Police Lowell Post is hosting a local fundraiser to purchase additional Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) for patrol cars at the Lowell Post. Each post in the state is hosting a fundraiser toward the same goal.

A man wanted for dealing and possession of methamphetamine in Kosciusko County was reportedly taken into custody in Plymouth Thursday afternoon.
A Marshall County drug investigation led to the arrests of two Argos residents in Plymouth Wednesday. Jacob Urednick, 27, and Tory Good, 41, were taken into custody around 2:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Michigan Street, according to Plymouth Police.
Work will begin soon on a Marshall County Community Crossings grant project.
Highway Supervisor Jason Peters said paving on Beech Road could start either on Friday, Nov. 10 or Monday, Nov. 13. Inclement weather could play a factor on the start of the project and the overall completion. Continue reading

Officials at Culver Community Schools are asking local parents to help them determine whether or not there is a need for Pre-Kindergarten classes for 4 and 5-year-olds within the town of Culver and the surrounding area.
Superintendent Karen Shuman is encouraging interested parents to contact the corporation office and says parents should be ready to answer questions, such as whether or not the child is currently 4 or 5 or if they will be 4 by August 1st of 2018.
They’re also collecting information about preferences for AM, PM or all-day classes. They want to know whether or not the parent is currently working or attending school and if the child would need transportation in order to attend a Culver Pre-K class. Continue reading
More than 1,300 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs were collected by the Indiana State Police, during Saturday’s Take Back initiative. Locally, 41 pounds of medications were turned in at the Bremen Post, while the Lowell Post collected 25 pounds. Several local law enforcement agencies also took part.
Members of the Culver Middle School Student Council are collecting turkeys to help families in need this Thanksgiving.
Those wishing to donate a turkey can take it to the main middle school entrance following the school day until 4 p.m. ET. Donations can be taken to the high school main office any time during school hours.
