The first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine are expected to arrive in Indiana next week. During Wednesday’s COVID-19 briefing, Indiana Department of Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lindsay Weaver said an FDA subcommittee is expected to approve the Pfizer vaccine Thursday, clearing the way for an emergency use authorization and shipment to the states. “This is incredibly exciting news because it signals the beginning of the end of this pandemic,” Weaver said.

Governor Tightening Restrictions on Social Gatherings, Directing Hospitals to Postpone Non-Emergent Procedures

Starting this weekend, event organizers will no longer be allowed to seek permission to hold events larger than the limits outlined in the state’s county metrics. That’s 50 people in counties coded orange and 25 people in counties coded red.

Indiana Hopes to Vaccinate Frontline Health Care Workers, Long-Term Care Residents by End of Year

Indiana’s frontline health care workers and long-term care facility residents could be vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of the year. State Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box said Wednesday that both Pfizer and Moderna have now applied for an FDA emergency use authorization, and Indiana is preparing to receive limited supplies as early as mid-December.

Culver Storm Water Fee Could Double in Coming Years

Culver residents’ storm water fee could soon be going up. The residential fee would increase from two dollars a month to $4.36, under a recommendation from a recent rate study. “So we’re more than doubling the revenue stream, and, therefore, we’re more than doubling the storm water rate,” Jeff Rowe with accounting firm Baker Tilly told the town council last week.
