Plymouth Council Agrees to Defer Sewer and Water Connection Charges for Manufacturing Center

A new manufacturing center being built in the City of Plymouth recently got a boost from the city council. Council members formally agreed not to charge the sewer and water connection fees until the building is occupied and the utilities are being used. The storm water and drainage financial guarantees are being waived entirely.

The city council approved those arrangements as part of a memorandum of understanding with the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation. City Attorney Sean Surrisi said the document also specifies that the project will be completed by next summer. He added that similar agreements were used for the recent Aquatics Center and Habitat for Humanity projects.

The city council also ratified an executive order from Mayor Mark Senter. Surrisi explained that it was issued between council meetings in an effort to move the building permit process along more quickly.

Council Member Jeff Houin abstained from voting on both the memorandum and the ratification of the mayor’s executive order.
