A laborious negotiating process has led to the approval of a contract between CenturyLink and the Marshall County government.

During Monday morning’s Marshall County Commissioners meeting, an E911 contract was reviewed. The county has been working with CenturyLink on a 24 month contract to help provide infrastructure for E911 services.

Plymouth Schools Not Alone In Use of Complicated Financing Tool

Plymouth School CorporationThe Plymouth Community School Corporation is using a legal tactic to help them finance future renovations to several of its facilities.

The $2-million project will expand seating at the athletic complex and upgrade restrooms and ticket offices. Construction will also provide more space for meetings and file storage at the School Corporation’s Administration Building.

Time Change Prompts Safety Reminder

Fall Time ChangeIt’s time to “fall back in the fall.” Dayling Saving Time ends early tomorrow (Sunday) morning, so be sure to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night. State Fire Marshal Jim Greeson says it’s also a good time to change batteries in smoke alarms and remove dust from the front of the devices. Donnelly Highlights Federal Progress with Pain Prescription Abuse

The Senator has been working for the past two years to find solutions: not only to Indiana’s addiction problems, but drug problems across the nation. Appearing via conference call with U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, Donnelly says training medical doctors with better prescribing practices could go a long way.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is urging political candidates and their supporters to prevent road signs from blocking traffic visibility. According to INDOT, intersections, interchanges, and right-of-ways that run along a road should not be utilized for political yard signs.

Plymouth Business Celebrates 160th Anniversary

Felke FloristA Plymouth business is celebrating 160 years of doing business with an afternoon open house. Felke Florist is in it’s fifth generation of family ownership. Chris Fekle says his Great-Great Grandma “Flower Mary” Felke was the original entrepreneur and was recorded as the first female florist in Chicago.

“She would gather wildflowers in the fields that surrounded the train stations, and she originally started selling them to the passengers who got on and off of the trains. After a number of years of doing so, she then gained some contracts to provide flowers for lobbies of hotels and also hotel rooms,” Felke said. Continue reading

BMV Amends Hours to Accommodate Elections

BMV LogoIndiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles license branches will adjust their hours next Monday and Tuesday in order to accommodate prospective voters. They will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2 and from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. During those times license branches will only process new, amended or replacement ID card and driver’s license or learner permit applications. New driver’s licenses and learner permits will only be processed if the customer has already completed the required testing. Continue reading
