Plymouth Community School Board members approved the appointment of Michelle Zentz as the new Principal of Riverside Intermediate School during their meeting Tuesday night.
She previously served as the school’s assistant principal. According to school officials, her comprehensive approach and attention to detail have been invaluable in maintaining a positive and productive school environment.
Before her tenure at Riverside Intermediate, Zentz served as the Dean of Students at North Miami Elementary School in Denver, IN. In this role, she was responsible for coordinating school testing, leading Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), managing attendance and discipline, organizing case conferences, and more. Her broad range of responsibilities and her ability to handle them efficiently prepared her well for school administration.
Within the Plymouth Community School Corporation, Zentz was the 6th Grade Project-Based Learning (PBL) Facilitator from 2018 to 2020. During this period, she also served as a Math Facilitator, collaborated with the PBL team on daily lesson planning, and contributed to the School Improvement Committee and Technology Committee. Additionally, she completed an administrative internship at Riverside Intermediate and Lincoln Junior High (LJH), further honing her leadership skills.
Outside of administrative work, Mrs. Zentz has also spent time in the classroom. She began her career as a 4th Grade Teacher at Central Elementary School, where she taught from 2011 to 2018. She excelled in her role, serving as the RTI Coordinator, Principal Designee, and VEX Robotics Coach. Her early experiences in the classroom provided her with a solid foundation in education and student engagement.
Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter told MAX News that Zentz replaces Kyle Coffman who has moved to the Fort Wayne area to be closer to family.
