The Marshall County Commissioners were presented with a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Plymouth concerning the use of a water line with access to the fire training facility adjacent to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
City of Plymouth Attorney Jeff Houin explained that the Plymouth Fire Department received a grant to install a fire hydrant at the training facility to expand training opportunities.
“It was determined by the City Utility Department it would be much cheaper and more efficient to connect to the current water line that provides fire suppression to the jail rather than running an entirely new line all the way out to the main service lines at the street.”
A meter will be installed on the new line so the city can monitor water usage to the hydrant.
It was noted that the county will have no costs as a result of this project and the city will be responsible for any issues experienced to the fire suppression system to the jail.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger said he reviewed the MOU and recommended its approval.
The Marshall County Commissioners unanimously approved the MOU between the county and the City of Plymouth.
