Marshall County Assistant Chief Probation Officer Abby Caswell presented a grant request to the Marshall County Commissioners and to the Marshall County Council during their most recent respective meetings.
Caswell requested to apply for the Justice Partners Addictions Response Grant. She said grant officials reached out in May to gauge interest in the grant. A deadline was given of May 31 for interested entities to indicate interest to apply in the fifth round of funding. The funding availability would not be known until August.
The application was submitted with a request for $60,000 which has been used in conjunction with Pre-Trial Grant to supplement the pre-trial officer, educational materials, treatment providers and the procurement of speakers that addresses opiate use and abuse in Marshall County.
The Marshall County Commissioners and the Marshall County Council members unanimously approved motions to approve the request during their respective meetings.
