Representatives from the Marshall County Health Department presented grant requests to the Marshall County Commissioners and to the Marshall County Council during their respective meetings.
Former Health Administrator Faith Freed presented a request to the council to apply for the Supplemental Workforce in Schools grant which is for the school health liaison position. She said there was no amount yet or an exact time of when it is due, but the letter of intent was provided to the council.
The council approved the request with a unanimous vote. The commissioners approved the request in a previous meeting.
Freed also requested to apply for the Supplemental Immunization Funding grant. The council previously denied a request to apply for the funding as the request had not been submitted prior to the application submission to the State. The council did vote to support $60,000 from the General Fund to cover the core functions of the campaign.
As a result of the council’s previous action, Freed told the council the State would allow the county to apply for $56,160.32 in grant funding. The council unanimously approved the request.
When the request came before the commissioners Monday morning, Marshall County Public Health Nurse Sandy Dunfee further explained that an administrator at the Indiana Department of Health looked at the county’s statistics and offered the grant for $56,160.32 to continue to offer immunizations throughout the county. The commissioners approved the request with a unanimous vote.
