Marshall County Sheriff to Seek Marine Patrol Assistance Grant

Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel asked the Marshall County Commissioners and the Marshall County Council members during their respective meetings in February to apply for a Marine Patrol Assistance Grant through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

He said the grant would be for $20,000. He stressed that this annual grant is in addition to the funds put forth by the Lake Maxinkuckee Association for patrols every year.

The request was unanimously approved by the commissioners and the council during their meetings.

Additionally, Sheriff Hassel told the commissioners last month that four out of the five squad cars previously ordered have finally arrived.  He asked the commissioners for permission to pre-pay ahead of the next claim round to get the cars purchased.  He asked for $76,000 from the Sheriff’s Fund in the General Fund and $35,000 out of the Misdemeanant Fund to pay Oliver Ford for the squad cars. The request was unanimously approved.
