Culver Town Council Opens Bids for Water Project

The Culver Town Council opened bids for an upcoming water project in the area of Fleet and West Terrace Street.

Town Manager Ginny Bess Munroe previously explained there is a water pressure issue in that area.  In this project, the town plans to run a new water line through the old railroad corridor through an easement Culver Academies agreed to give to the town.  Munroe noted that the low water pressure experienced would be remedied in that entire neighborhood.

The town wanted to do this project before the third phase of the Lake Max Trail gets underway.

The project will be funded by the town’s American Rescue Plan Act Funds.

Testing in that area resulted in the fact that a 10 inch line can be installed.

Three bids were opened during Tuesday night’s meeting.  Guardian Private submitted a bid of $195,050, TGB Unlimited bid $226,400, and Thomas Excavating bid $198,127.

The council agreed to take the bids under advisement. Mark Sullivan from Midwestern Engineering will review those bids to make sure they meet specifications.  He will return with a recommendation for council approval during the council’s March 28 meeting.
