The Argos Town Council held their last meeting of the year on Tuesday, December 20. It just so happened to also be Council Member George Null’s last meeting on the council. After 16 years of serving on the Argos Town Council, Null decided not to run again for the elected position.

At the Tuesday night meeting, Council President Charles Randy Snead presented a plaque that honored Null’s years of service to the town.

“I want to thank everybody,” Null said. “It’s been a long road. I wanted to thank the patrons of the town for their support for voting me in all of these years, the support I’ve had from all the different council members. We’ve had a variety, I’ve learned a lot from each and every one of them. I took in a lot from each and every one of them. I never turned them down, I did listen to what they said. I want to thank God, first of all, because we talked a lot before I ever ran and every year when I decided to re-elect. My wife, my kids. My wife never came to a council meeting, I didn’t want her here because she said I was too nice sometimes to put up with some of the stuff I’ve put up with. But, the people of the town are very lucky that they have boards like this that I’ve sat on. I want them to know that we do care about them. For you guys that are on the council and new members. I never promised anything, because if you can’t keep a promise, don’t do it. I never lied to anyone. That’s just been my way it’s going to be,” Null said.

George went on to say that he still would like to serve the Town of Argos in a different capacity.
