Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel got approval from the Marshall County Commissioners to purchase a new vehicle to replace a totaled vehicle from an accident in the area of Fir Road and 7th Road a while ago.
Hassel said it took him a while to get quotes, but he got a quote from Auto Park for a pursuit rated Dodge Durango and a quote from Oliver Ford for a pursuit rated Ford Explorer.
The Durango quote was lower than the Explorer quote by $5,000, but Hassel commented that the officers have expressed greater comfort in a Ford Explorer. With that, the commissioners agreed to purchase the Ford Explorer at a cost of $42,451. The cost will come out of the sheriff’s budget.
Hassel will go before the Marshall County Council to ask for an additional appropriation to purchase the vehicle.
