A cargo trailer owned by Marshall County will be donated to David’s Courage as an educational tool.
Marshall County Community Corrections Director Ward Byers asked the commissioners to deem the 20-foot cargo trailer as surplus.
Byers explained, “In 2019, a 2018 US cargo trailer was purchased for the intent of building that out as a hidden in plain sight bedroom and go around to fairs, festivals to show where drugs are hidden in bedrooms. That’s never happened. That sits on the Community Corrections fixed asset sheet. I’m asking you to consider deeming that as surplus property and donate that to 501(C)(3) David’s Courage. Their people out there are going to build it out for its intended purpose and actually use that trailer for what it was purchased for in the first place.”
The trailer was purchased with funds from Marshall County Community Corrections, Drug Free Marshall County, and the Marshall County Sheriff as a county asset.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger will draw up an agreement for consideration by the county and David’s Courage concerning the transaction.
The commissioners approved the request pending the completion of paperwork.
