Marshall County EMA Director Presents Changes to Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan

Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery presented changes to Annexes to the county’s Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan to the commissioners last week.

Avery said one change is due to sirens in Walnut Township.

“We discovered that Walnut Township is adding six sirens in their area,” explained Avery.  “They will not be able to be operated by the Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center at this time.  They’ll have to be manually operated by someone who comes into the Fire Department.”

There currently is no agreement in place to have the sirens toned from dispatch.  Most other sirens are operated by the Central Dispatch Center.

He said the change to Annex B under Emergency Public Information pertains to Facebook.

“We did have a Facebook account, but after they switched to Meta I got a notification that it was considered a gray account, meaning that it basically affiliated with anything else. I looked into it and tried to figure out how we can affiliate it with another account that wasn’t with a personal account and I even talked to IT and they couldn’t figure it out so we lost it. I just took it out.”

Both amendments were approved with a unanimous vote.
