Culver Town Council Reviews Parking Ordinance Amendments

The Culver Town Council members were presented with amendments to the parking ordinance Tuesday night.

One change that was done recently was allowing Culver Community School Corporation to restrict parking on Lakeshore Drive due to pick-up and drop-off times.  A request was made by the school to eliminate that restriction which is reflected in the amended ordinance.

Other changes were made to Madison Street. The street should be two hour parking on the north and south sides of the road from Ohio Street east to the end Friday-Sunday and holidays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET. Also on Madison Street, a handicapped parking spot will be marked west of Main Street.

Town Manager Ginny Bess Munroe noted that a lot of the changes made to the ordinance were to reflect the signage on the roads in town as much of the language governing parking did not match.

In addition, Washington Street from Lake Street to Coolidge Street was deemed a one-way Street and that there is no parking on the south side of the street and two hour parking elsewhere.

The council approved the ordinance on first reading.  Additional readings are anticipated in upcoming meetings.
