Bremen Town Council Appoints Interim Water Superintendent

The Bremen Town Council members approved a recommendation from Director of Operations Trend Weldy to appoint an interim water superintendent.

Water Superintendent Alex Mikel is leaving the department.  His last day is September 12. During their Monday afternoon meeting, the council appointed Enrique “Henry” Aguayo to fill in until a replacement is found.

The position will be posted for interested applicants.

The news of Mikel’s departure caused Council Member Bill Daily to question what the council could be doing better to retain great employees. Several have left the town to go to other municipalities for work.  Daily asked to discuss the matter in an upcoming public meeting.  He hopes to get with Clerk-Treasurer Janet Anglemyer to look at pay and learn about what exiting employees are saying to help find a solution.  He also wants to know how to attract qualified employees.
