Marshall County Commissioners Approve Updated COVID-19 Exposure Policy for Employees, Elected Officials

The Marshall County Commissioners were presented with an updated resolution this week concerning a COVID-19 exposure policy for all county employees and elected officials.

Human Resources Administrator Ann Anglin presented the policy.  County Attorney Jim Clevenger said there were minor changes made to the previous policy in place.

An employee sent home from work because of COVID-19 symptoms will be required to schedule a COVID-19 test at their earliest convenience.  They may contact the Marshall County Health Department at 574-935-8565 for a free test.

The employee will self quarantine and await the results of the test.

The employee will return to work the following day if the test is negative as long as he or she is fever free for 24 hours and have improved symptoms.   If the test is positive, the employee will follow recommendations of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Marshall County Health Department.  If a member of the employee’s family is sent home due to direct contact with a person who tested positive with COVID-19 then he or she will follow recommendations of the CDC and the Marshall County Health Department.

The Marshall County Commissioners approved the policy with a unanimous vote.

Additionally, the commissioners approved a request from Marshall County Health Administrator Faith Freed to continue with a grant to continue the COVID-19 community testing site through the rest of 2022 for $50,000. The site will remain behind the Lifeplex on Miller Drive in Plymouth.
