In an attempt to alleviate some of the burden of costs to county employees, the Marshall County Commissioners agreed Monday morning to alleviate some of the cost of insurance to employees already enrolled in the county’s group plan.
A single person pays $75 a month and it goes up depending on family situations, where it can be up to $350 a month.
Commission President Kevin Overmyer said the decision should be made to reduce the cost to employees that is equitable and across the board.
Commissioners Michael Burroughs and Stan Klotz said they support helping employees already enrolled in the plan through the rest of the year and it can be explored in next year’s budget.
Commissioner Burroughs made a motion to charge employees $1.00 per pay that participate in the single plan, and $50 per pay for the employees in the next tiers in the plan who have spouses and children that are already receiving insurance from the county. The commissioners will pick up the rest of the cost out of the commissioners’ budget for the remainder of 2022.
The motion was unanimously approved.
