The Marshall County Commissioners opened bids Monday morning for the Community Crossings Matching Grant projects and additional paving projects.
The county received $1 million in Community Crossings Matching grant funds for this round of projects.
Two bids were received for the Community Crossings projects which include Tamarack Road from U.S. 6 to County Line Road, Pear Road from 14B to 18B, and 15th Road from State Road 17 to Thorn Road at the railroad tracks.
E&B Paving submitted a bid of about $516,000 for the Tamarack Road project, $1.1 million for the Pear Road project, and $371,500 for the 15th Road project. Milestone Contractors North bid about $458,000 for the Tamarack project, almost $983,000 for the Pear Road project, and about $339,000 for the 15th Road project.
The additional paving projects include 1st from Tamarack to County Line Road, Sycamore from 9th to U.S. 30, Union from 9C to 10B, and 12th Road from North Michigan to Maple. E&B Paving bid about $617,000 for the 1st Road project, $458,000 for the Sycamore Road project, nearly $293,000 for the Union Road project, and $327,000 for the 12th Road project. Milestone Contractors North bid $487,000 for the 1st Road project, $372,000 for the Sycamore Road project, $253,000 for the Union Road project, and almost $293,000 for the 12th Road project.
The commissioners agreed to take the bids under advisement. Highway Superintendent Jason Peters will come back with a recommendation at the commissioners’ next meeting.
