The Marshall County Commissioners reviewed a contract with Baker Tilly last week that deals with work on a five-year comprehensive financial plan for the county.
The company has done this work for the county in the past and the commissioners believe it is time to update the process.
Todd Samuelson from Baker Tilly said about 16 budget areas will be analyzed, and that was determined with the assistance of Auditor Julie Fox. He indicated that it is in an increase, but American Rescue Plan Act funds did not exist in the past.
The work will take several months. The contract would include an hourly rate, not to exceed $35,000.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger asked Samuelson if the analysis would help government officials look at the Local Income Tax and determine the rate to present for extension consideration by the state legislature. Samuelson replied that it would be a priority in the plan.
The commissioners and council would come together to review the plan when completed.
The commissioners unanimously approved the contract as presented.
