A public hearing was held Tuesday night concerning a request to rezone 415 Lakeshore Drive in Culver from a Commercial-2 property to a Planned Unit Development property. The property is where the former City Tavern building used to stand.
There will be two residential buildings. One building will have three units, and a second building will have four units and an English-style basement. The buildings will be 25 feet and 27 feet in height, respectively.
Access to the property would be off of Coolidge Street and an enclosed outbuilding will be featured to accommodate golf cart parking. About 16.6 percent of the property will be available for greenspace.
Residents had concerns of the size of the project on the available property, the size of the project in general, aesthetics, parking on Lakeview, traffic flow, safety, and setbacks for visibility purposes.
The Planning Commission members did not act on the request as the petitioner eventually withdrew the application in order to make modifications. The request will be back before the Planning Commission once those modifications are made. The Culver Town Council did not discuss the request or the proposed ordinance as it did not move forward out of the Planning Commission meeting with a recommendation.
