MARSHALL COUNTY — Marshall County Council approved a grant application request made by Marshall County Parks and Recreation Department Board Secretary Deborah VanDeMark in the amount of $5,000 from Arrowhead Country Resource Conservation and Development; a 501c3 non-profit organization, to be used to fund the planning portion of the Kayak and Canoe Launch Project.

The organization funds multiple natural resource and environmentally sound projects across a ten county region. The grant is local, not State or Federal, with no required match. VanDeMark hopes to hear if they are selected and approved for the funding next month.

The Marshall County Parks and Recreation Department has been entrusted to steward two properties which include Mill Pond which is approximately 35 acres and Memorial Forest which is 80 acres. Great care is given to develop the properties while upholding care for biodiversity and conservation.
