Marshall County Council Reorganizes, Makes Appointments

The Marshall County Council reorganized Monday resulting in a new president.

Councilman Jesse Bohannon made a motion to keep the leadership the same as in 2021 with Tim Harman as president and Mandy Campbell as vice president and was seconded by Heath Thornton but the motion was defeated with a 4-3 vote with Jim Masterson, Mandy Campbell, Jon VanVactor and Steve Harper voting no, and Heath Thornton, Jesse Bohannon and Tim Harman voting yes. 

Councilman Jim Masterson nominated Mandy Campbell as president which was seconded by Jon VanVactor which passed with a unanimous vote.  Councilman Jon VanVactor then nominated Jim Masterson for vice president which was seconded by Steve Harper and approved with a 6-0 vote with Jesse Bohannon abstaining.

The council then approved several appointments to various boards and committees. Pameila Amick was appointed to the Culver-Union Township Library Board for a four-year term and Brian Main was reappointed to the Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board for a four-year term.  Other annual appointments include Councilman Jon VanVactor to the Marshall County Plan Commission, Maria Keller to the Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Councilwoman Mandy Campbell to MACOG, Kevin Overmyer to the Argos Economic Development Commission, Don Fox to the Culver Economic Development Commission, Councilwoman Mandy Campbell to the 4-H Fair Board, Councilman Tim Harman to the EMA Advisory Board, Councilwoman Mandy Campbell and Councilman Tim Harman to Central Dispatch, Councilman Jesse Bohannon to Solid Waste Board, Councilman Jim Masterson to Unsafe Building Committee, Councilman Jesse Bohannon to Marshall County LEPC, Councilman Heath Thornton to Courthouse Security Committee, Councilman Steve Harper to the Solar Task Force, and Councilmen Heath Thornton, Jon VanVactor and Jim Masterson to the council subcommittee pertaining to job classification and compensations.

The council also approved Councilman Jon VanVactor to be on the newly-formed Technology Committee for a one-year term.
