Marshall County Council Considers Job Description Amendments to Highway Positions

The Marshall County Council members reviewed amendments to three different positions within the Marshall County Highway Department.

Human Resources Administrator Ann Anglin said the full-time positions of area leader, mechanic and heavy equipment operator will be made part-time as well, as recommended by Highway Superintendent Jason Peters.

“We’re having a hard time getting the full-time positions so he wanted to go and put it as a part-time position just in case there are people that would want to work part-time for extra income.  They currently have a job, but they just want to work part-time.  That was a thing he thought about doing,” said Anglin.

Peters said it was all about planning ahead.

Peters commented, “If we have a few COVID cases and are out two weeks, or a major snow storm and a couple of guys would potentially come in and work part-time, it would fit right in to planning ahead.”

He said two full-time positions were previously posted for about three months that remain unfilled.

Councilman Health Thornton commented that the Personnel Committee gave a favorable recommendation toward the amendment.

The council members approved the amendments with unanimous vote.
