A Marshall County resident was recently designated as a member of the Circle of Corydon.
Les Trump recently retired after 24.5 years as a Marshall County Sheriff’s Department employee and he is a past employee at the Mishler Funeral Home, and has been involved with the Lake of the Woods Fire Department and Plymouth Ambulance Service. He remains in service as chief deputy coroner.
With his many years of service to the Marshall County community, Ward Byers told the Marshall County Commissioners Monday morning, along with Trump and his family, that he contacted Senator Ryan Mishler which resulted in this honor.
Reading from the designation, Byers said the Circle of Corydon Award is for Hoosiers who have made remarkable contributions to the betterment of Indiana and its people.
Byers stated, “…and Whereas, Senator Ryan Mishler has made known the illustrious benefactions of one, Leslie G. Trump, who has demonstrated in life and in service to the people of the State of Indiana the qualities exemplified by our state’s greatest citizens; Henceforth, and having been deemed worthy of such recognition, the above named, Leslie G. Trump, is hereby declared to be a designated member of the Circle of Corydon. Granted to you on the 29th day of September, 2021. Eric Holcomb, Governor of the great State of Indiana.”
The commissioners thanked Trump for his service to the county. Trump thanked everyone for the distinction.
In addition to this honor, Sheriff Matthew Hassel presented Les Trump with a clock plaque during his retirement party that had engraved on it “Honoring Your Service Presented to Leslie Trump” in appreciation of 24 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
