Highway Superintendent Updates Marshall County Commissioners on Road Projects

The road construction season is nearing a close, but crews continue working to complete projects before the weather turns.

Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters updated the commissioners Monday morning on the progress of the 2021 road program.

“We’ve done 12 miles of triple seals and 70 miles of single seals,” explained Peters.  “Completed paving – 1st Road from the Town Limits of Lapaz to the curves, Miami from Plymouth-Goshen Trail to U.S. 6, Kenilworth from State Road 6 to 3rd, and 2B from State Road 331 to the County Line should be completed.”

He noted that Sycamore and South Michigan Roads saw some new pavement this week with more work on those stretches of road to be done soon, along with some other Community Crossings and extra paving projects.

Peters continued, “3A, due to a sub-base after-profile milling, we’re probably going to add an additional one inch base. This will be used to level things back up.  There’s a change order of that of $47,000.  That’s on the Community Crossings section.”

Other work yet to be done includes Muckshaw to U.S. 31, 3rd (North Shore) from West Shore to 3A, Pretty Lake Trail from Quince to State Road 17, Quince from State Road 17 to Pretty Lake Drive to Queen, Sage from West Shore to State Road 110 and East Shore from 3A to West Shore.
