Culver Town Council Holds Public Hearing on 2022 Budget

The Culver Town Council members opened a public hearing last week on the proposed 2022 budget.

Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim explained the General Fund budget to those who attended the meeting.  It totals $2,337,665.

Heim commented, “For the General Fund, we’re looking at the clerk budget at $473,625, the police budget at $564,800, fire at $268,770, EMS at $680,235, and street at $350,225.  We’re looking at actually being over our income by about $146,897, but keep in mind that these are all estimates.  We may not spend all of it.  I think we can take down the EMS budget just a bit as the CRC [Culver Redevelopment Commission] committed money toward the ambulance”

Other funds include Riverboat at $11,334, Local Roads and Streets at $16,154, Motor Vehicle Highway at $53,240, Parks and Recreation at $380,000 Cumulative Capital Development at about $176,000, Grant Fund at $603,000 and American Rescue Plan Act funds at $164,926.

Heim also explained that some of the Cumulative Capital Development Funds will be spent on equipment for the fire department and EMS.

There were no public comments given during the meeting.

The Culver Town Council approved the first reading of the 2022 budget ordinance with a unanimous vote.
