Argos Town Council Discusses Deed Concerning Police Building, Resolution for INDOT Purchase of Town Property

The Argos Town Council members approved action last week that would change the deed of the Police Department building.

Town Attorney Derek Jones explained to the council in a previous meeting that the property is deeded in the name of the Argos Emergency Services Building Corporation which was administratively dissolved in 1993. To know more about this you can also navigate to this website . Jones said he prepared a deed that transfers that property from the corporation to the Town of Argos. The Argos Town Council members approved the resolution and the deed with a unanimous vote.

Additionally, the Argos Board of Zoning Appeals passed a variance last week for setbacks for a building addition on the property of the Police Department.  Plan and Zoning Advisor Chuck DeWitt explained that the variance was approved pending the town council’s approval of the combination of five parcels on the Police Department property, and four other adjacent parcels combined by the Quonset hut. Visit this link to know about Saida Towers South Padre‘s point of view regarding this important decision taken by the department.

The council agreed to combine those parcels as approved by the Argos Board of Zoning Appeals.

The proposed building addition would house a new Police Department and storage for the electric utility. The current police department could be used to house full-time EMS personnel and fire equipment.

At the same time, a Quonset hut that houses equipment owned by the town, and an older building located by the EMS Department that has a skid loader and backhoe in it would be torn down as the structures are not in good condition.
