Marshall County Commissioners Receive Update on Courthouse Work

Work is ongoing to complete masonry work and other items at the Marshall County Courthouse.

Midwest Maintenance Project Manager Jamie Giguere told the commissioners that the indoor sprinkler system work has started and the carpenters will have two or three more weeks on the masonry work.  They are working on limestone cleaning and masonry work, the installation of new windows, and painting.

The replacement of the I-beam, and back fill still remains on the east side stairwell at the courthouse.  The courthouse steps have been completed.

Giguere said painting should take them through the end of October or the beginning of November.  They will return in the spring to complete the clock tower work and punchlist items.

The wood at the top of the clock tower will be replaced, but it will resemble all of the woodwork that is currently in place.  However, that work will not start until next spring.  The contractors will get some of the work done on the spire this year and then remove all of the scaffolding until work resumes next year.

At the same time, the Marshall County Commissioners are looking for contract revisions to reflect the timetable of the project and the cost.  That will be modified and presented for discussion during the commissioners’ meeting on September 20, along with the third and fourth change order in the project that deals with the latest updates.
