Bremen residents and business owners may soon have access to high-speed broadband internet.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy told the town council members this week that upload and download speeds of 100Mbps would be a part of the proposal with Surf Broadband, although larger upload and download speeds would be available.
“They’re in Bourbon and their loop runs up Dogwood and it comes back on [U.S.] 6 and they want to bring it right into town at the cemetery, run it to Fourth Street and scatter it all over town,” explained Weldy. “They’re supposed to bring us a proposal back on what their plans are all of that.”
Water and Storm Water Superintendent Alex Mikel asked if they could negotiate the boring depth so the town’s utilities are not disturbed and the fiber can be easily located if digging needs to be done. Weldy said that should be fine.
More on the project will be coming in the next few weeks.
