In order to be rid of a mobile home that is in bad shape on South West Street, the Argos Town Council members considered supporting the idea that the property could be signed over to the town for clean-up purposes.
The owner proposed that deal so he would not have to pay any court costs, repairs, or fines as the issue is currently in court.
Town Attorney Derek Jones said the current court proceeding would allow the town replace the roof and skirting, but if the town supports the deal proposed with the deed signed over to the town then the structure could be demolished. The costs to do so would be the town’s responsibility. The Argos Redevelopment Commission or the Argos Community Development Corporation could then decide the future of the property.
The Argos Town Council members voted unanimously to take the property owner on the offer. The attorney will work on the legal paperwork.
