Marshall County Highway Superintendent Presents Commissioners with Contract for Upcoming NIPSCO Project

The Marshall County Commissioners reviewed information this week about a contract with NIPSCO concerning a circuit breaker upgrade.

Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters said the project will begin soon.  Crews plan to start in the City of Plymouth with a separate project and then work in the county.

“It goes up 9A, across U.S. 31 and goes out toward the Pilot Truck Stop, and that’s one section,” explained Peters.  “The other section is [Plymouth] City Limits on Lincoln Highway and goes all of the way out to Inwood.  They’re replacing poles, eliminating some lines, taking some poles out, and miscellaneous-type things.”

The commissioners approved the contract subject to review by County Attorney Jim Clevenger.  Peters added that a $100,000 maintenance bond should be added to the project which will cover any mishaps.  The county will keep 70 percent of that bond and release it after one year.  The commissioners agreed that a maintenance bond should be added to the contract.
