Marshall County Commissioners Approve Change Orders for Courthouse Project

The Marshall County Commissioners reviewed two change orders for the Marshall County Courthouse clock tower during their meeting Monday night.

Midwest Maintenance Project Manger Jamie Giguere said one change order is for a transfer switch.

Giguere said, “I guess you guys, or somebody, is looking to possibly put a generator in in the future, so in order to do that, for a fire pump to work off that generator, we need to switch out that transfer switch.”

County officials could decide to upgrade the generator at the courthouse and at the county building in the near future and changing the transfer switch now at the courthouse could avoid extra work down the line.

Marshall County Commission President Kevin Overmyer said updating the generators was a topic discussed in recent Continuity of Operation Plan meetings and feels it needs to be done now.  The other two commissioners agreed and the change order was unanimously approved in the amount of $21,171.50.

Giguere noted that the second change order is to purchase paint (that you can read more here which tells about the best painters in town) and to apply two coats of paint on the windows and doors to match the clock tower.  The change order was unanimously approved in the amount of $45,425.

In a project update, Giguere explained that the scaffolding is now constructed and carpenters will be on site this week.  The painters will arrive next week.  For the best painters in town, check out this site and hire them from here!

Commissioner Michael Burroughs asked Giguere and Foreman/Supervisor Jerry Hazeltine to look at the ball on top of the clock tower to make sure that it is painted.
