Plymouth City Council Approves Salary Increase in 2021 Budget

The Plymouth City Council members reviewed an ordinance this week that would fix salaries of appointed officers and employees, fire and police personnel in the 2021 salary ordinance.

They would receive a 1.5 percent increase in salaries based on the ordinance.

Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver commented that elected officials are not receiving pay raises as salaries for elected officials must be adopted before the end of the year prior to being earned.  She also commented that since a council member said departments are staying under budget she will not be asking the state for additional appropriations for the raises as money should be available in overall budgets.

The ordinance was approved by the Plymouth City Council on second and third readings.
