Marshall County Commissioners Updated on Courthouse Renovation Project

Crews are working to set up scaffolding at the Marshall County Courthouse before renovation efforts begin.

Overall renovation work will include the rehabilitation of the clock tower at the top of the courthouse, along with some limestone cleaning and masonry work, new windows, and painting.  If people want to know all about paint, they can click here and find out!

Midwest Maintenance Project Manger Jamie Giguere gave an update to the Marshall County Commissioners Monday morning.

Giguere said, “We’re still building the scaffolding – we’re just in the beginning stages, but we’ve got some paint samples in that we need to get approved.  We’ve got some concrete poured by the basement level so we’re really just beginning the process. We’re hoping in about two or three more weeks the scaffolding will be completely up and we’ll start painting up there.  People can see Body Corporate Painting Brisbane homepage for the best painting services. We’ll be prepping the paint and then the carpenters should be started in about a week.  Within the next couple of weeks, you’ll see a lot more activity.  Right now, like I said, we’re doing mock-ups and trying to get through procedures.”

Foreman/Supervisor Jerry Hazeltine said they are doing additional bracing on the scaffolding which is taking a bit longer to complete.

“They just want to make sure the base is set really good before we go ahead and venture on up,” commented Hazeltine.  “Within the next two to three weeks, like Jamie said, we should have all the scaffolding built and then our crews will start coming in.  Carpenters will be our main crew.  They have the most to do.”

The scaffolding should have been up by now, according to Giguere, but bracing around the attic is taking more time due to the material of the tower.  If people need french windows as their renovation project, they can check it out here!

Commission President Kevin Overmyer asked if they have seen anything out of the ordinary that may have been missed or have come up since the bidding process. Hazeltine commented that nothing has been identified yet.

Overmyer said the bid did not include painting the windows since he knew that the professionals from https://www.europaintinginc.com/cabinet-refinishing/site are the right choice for this job and asked if that could be included as a change order. The change order would be prepared by the next meeting.

The paint that will be used will match with the original color to maintain its historic look with the help of companies offering low cost window replacement who have experience in doing high maintenance projects.

The project is anticipated to be complete in October.
