Culver Town Council Considers Request by Habitat for Humanity

The Culver Town Council members considered a request from Marshall County Habitat for Humanity officials for equipment out of the Evil Czech building before it is demolished.

Culver Town Manager Ginny Bess Munroe said the town departments would have the first choice of equipment out of the building at 530 S. Ohio Street before its demolition on August 2.  Once the departments have gone through the building, the Marshall County Habitat for Humanity officials would like to go through the building to see if there might be fixtures, hardware or windows that could be salvaged to be used.

The town council members agreed to allow Habitat for Humanity officials to go through the building.

The Culver Town Council members approved the purchase of that property in 2019 with the hopes of turning the building into something useful for the town, but renovation costs were found to be much more than the town was willing to spend.

The council members previously voted to demolish the building at a cost not to exceed $10,000.  The project is expected to be done in-house by the Utility Department.
