Three Marshall County Council members will join a committee of members who will make recommendations on projects for American Rescue Plan funding.
Marshall County Commissioner Kevin Overmyer asked for participation during the council’s meeting Monday morning.
“This plan is devised by the commissioners, but it has to be approved by you folks [the council] for appropriation so it just makes sense to have two or three of you on there,” explained Overmyer. “In the future, it might be good to sit down with the city and the towns. If there are things out there in the county and close to city limits – are there things that we can use this money for to go a little bit further?”
Council members Jesse Bohannon, Steve Harper and Heath Thornton agreed to be on the committee. Overmyer said Marshall County Health Officer Dr. Byron Holm will take part as well as Baker Tilly, and city and town officials.
Overmyer said federal guidelines on how to spend the funding will be delivered this week.
Some preliminary discussions include the expansion of broadband and the potential construction of sewer districts in certain areas of Marshall County.
