Bremen Town Council to Implement Electronic Sign Policy

The Bremen Town Council will soon consider a policy of what can be displayed on the town’s new LED message board at the corner of Plymouth and Bowen Streets.

The sign was purchased with COVID-19 grant funds through Marshall County for the purpose of displaying COVID-19-relevant information for residents to see, any emergency information from the county, AMBER or Silver Alerts, weather warnings, or important notes from the town or Bremen Public Schools.  It will also include major events in each Marshall County community to help promote activities in Marshall County.

Bremen Town Attorney Anthony Wagner asked Director of Operations Trend Weldy during Monday afternoon’s meeting about a policy.  Weldy said so far a message from Bremen Community Cares was posted, but he is limiting use to the town, government entities, like the Bremen Public Library and Bremen Schools, to display important events.

Weldy said birthday announcements will not be posted or an organization’s fundraiser outside of a government entity.

Wagner and Weldy said they would contact other attorneys in the county to see what policies are in their communities.  A policy will be provided to the council for review in a future meeting.
