Argos Fire Protection Territory Organizes, Plans to Hire Full-Time EMT

Members of the Argos Fire Protection Territory met for the first time Thursday night and organized as a group.

Argos Town Councilman Charles Randy Snead was selected president while Green Township Advisory Board member Jim Fishburn wa selected as the vice president.  Other members include Walnut Township Trustee Steve Wilhelm and non-voting member Argos Fire Chief Mark Dean.

They will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. ET at the Argos Town Hall.

One of the first items of business will be to hire a full-time EMT. The Argos Town Council made this a priority at their meeting last week.  The council will be the one who will officially vote on the new hire, but they mentioned that they would like the Argos Fire Protection Territory members to be involved.  EMS Director Sarah McCallum will make a recommendation to the council members on a candidate following an interview process.

The new employee will be paid for out of the town’s budget.  There will be plans to hire more EMTs as the process moves forward, but one will be hired at the start.

The Argos Fire Protection Territory members will also soon agree on a list of Standard Operating Procedures.
